Anchor Text Research: How To Find The Value Of Anchor TextWriting by Nick Stamoulis on Friday, 9 of November , 2007 at 9:08 am
Would you like to know who’s ranking for what anchor text, or how valuable a particular bit of anchor text is? Well, there is a little known way to find out who is using certain anchor text and what the competition for that anchor text is. Head to Design and perform an allinanchor search. Here’s the syntax you should use:
allinanchor:[your search term]
The allinanchor search will, just like any other search, tell you how many results are returned for it and rank the results just like a normal query. As far as I can tell, the ranking is as much based on the ordinary organic ranking of the website itself and not specific to the anchor text. In other words, if you were to perform an organic search for the same search term then the order of the rankings would be pretty similar. But that’s an aside. The allinanchor search will deliver a list of the websites that use the anchor text you are interested in. It gives you a chance to scope out the competitive environment for a particular anchor text you want to capitalize on.
