MailChimp’s Ben Chestnut is this week’s newest contributor to Digital Web. Ben offers his e-marketing expertise with 10 Tips For Your First Email Campaign. Web marketing and web standards are finally starting to converge, but that hardly means there are long established best practices and guidelines for people new to e-mail campaigns. Facebook App for WIRED Science

Finally, the Facebook app that I designed for WIRED Science is officially launched. The app is called "WIRED SCIENCE: What Element Are You?" It is basically a fun app that lets you take a short quiz to find out what element you are from the periodic table. Then you can combine your element with your friends and it will tell you the relationship between the two of you. If you are interested in adding me to your network, here is my Facebook profile.

After a few years of (I must admit) pure laziness, I finally started to work on a new set of Dreamweaver CS3 video tutorials.

… But, to be fair to myself, I wasn’t in a hurry to upgrade my Dreamweaver MX videos since the differences between CS3 and MX are really minimal … most of the changes are ‘under the hood’.

It’s not really a shock to find out that Microsoft is interested in Buying Yahoo (YahSoft?). Microsoft has bidded a massive 50 Billion for the internet giant, probably to form an possible acquisition or partnership that could potentially topple Google as the search king. What will this mean for web designers and the internet?

Firstly, Microsoft has never really had the success of Yahoo or Google on the internet and has lost its market share over the years to the cuddly Google, Googles offering is a friendly simple to use face to internet searching that does seem to return more accurate search results and its Gmail to my mind is still the best webmail out there.
