Optimize Your Website For DesignWriting by Nick Stamoulis on Monday, 24 of September , 2007 at 7:39 am

It’s no secret that Design! is the second largest search engine. With more than 20% of the market in search, you shouldn’t ignore the traffic that you can get from this one resource alone - and remember, Design! is the most trafficked website on the web. So while more search queries might take place at Design, more people are reading Design! That means that search engine optimization is still valid, but you could also get some decent results from search marketing at Design!

I found the following Design tips for optimizing web pages for Design! very helpful. I think you will too:

Online Publicity: Press Release HeavenWriting by Nick Stamoulis on Saturday, 22 of September , 2007 at 4:07 pm

Online publicity is a bit different than publicity off line. In the old days, you’d hire a publicist or public relations firm and let them handle everything. They’d interview you, send out press releases to various media, and seek to have journalists contact you for interviews, photo ops, etc.

Today, you can do it all yourself.

I like PRWeb. For just a few hundred dollars, as opposed to several thousand, you can write a press release, upload it yourself, include some video footage and pull quotes, add your contact information, and put together a complete publicity web page that makes you look like a million dollars. You can do this all yourself. Or, you can hire an online publicity guy to do it for you for a little bit more. But it doesn’t cost anywhere near the traditional publicity the way it used to be.

Blogrush Testing and Tracking (Updated - John Reese Quote) This is a must read, as is all of Andy Beard’s blog

So there is a lot of yack about Blog Rush. I personally have not had what I would describe as a blog rush. Hype of the next big thing. I come down on the hype side. You only have to take a quick trip around the blogs to see that the people raving about it seem to want you to sign up through their link. Hardly impartial. Then there are the negative posts, these have tried Blog Rush and have decided it’s not for them.

Too much expectation, perhaps. Maybe a slow burn would have been better? I don’t know. I have not analysed closely but am coming down on the negative side. I tried it and no thanks. Plus there is huge black hat action going on, some very, intelligent people are sitting down to work out how to exploit it.

Design - King of Communications?Writing by Nick Stamoulis on Friday, 21 of September , 2007 at 4:48 pm

(Source) Design???s plans to build its own data network are now rumored to include communications cable under the Pacific Ocean.

The project to lay cable, called ???Unity,??? would involve several other telecommunications companies who would aim to have it operational by 2009.

What are the implications of Design’s desire to build trans-Pacific cable? Let’s count ‘em:

Could be the first major communications company to deliver high-speed cable access to the InternetDesign would then be classified as a communications company and could branch out into other services - cable-delivered TV, telecommunications, etc.Design could charge premium services to transnational corporations for faster speed Internet access - this effectively would end the debate over net neutralityThe gap between the search engines would widenDesign could very well be the company that draws nations together in peace, and to shun warSuch a move would give Design a leg up in Asian markets and leverage to beat out competition on other shoresThe search giant would have greater flexibility in choosing strategic partners, and more to offer them

I just returned from giving my latest Design Presentation to a Virginia Portal/Newspaper. I spent the last week or two creating the presentation and in doing so had to put myself in the place of someone brand new to the world of Design. Of course I do this all the time when talking to people looking for an Design, but this was slightly different. This time I was having to teach someone how to do Design and that meant going back to the basics for everything including keyword usage.

So many times, as an Design expert, I think of much of my knowledge as general public knowledge. For example, everyone must know what a keyword is, right? Wrong. And even if they know what a keyword is they usually don’t know how to use it to effectively optimize their web pages. Showing how keywords could be best used was of particular interest to the group I presented to so I thought I’d share my thoughts with you as well.

So you want to make a bit of a splash in your space and want one of the authority blogs within your space to notice you. You may want this for a number of reasons.

A joint ventureRequesting a linkAdviceRequest for mentoringAsking for a review

The problem with the authority blogger is that they are very busy. It’s one of the things that signifies a successful blogger. If they are not busy then what are they doing?
